Faculty careers offer an exciting mixture of discovering new knowledge and conveying it to students. Your degree program prepares you with the expertise needed to sustain a faculty research agenda, and the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) can prepare you to be an effective instructor. CTL offers a variety of opportunities to build your teaching and learning portfolio to help you be competitive in your faculty job search.
As a member of CTL’s Future Faculty program, you will interact with a cohort of fellow graduate students and postdocs along with faculty experts in teaching and learning. Attending workshops on teaching and learning and on academic career preparation will get you started. Perhaps you have time for a CETL course on teaching or an online course or workshop through Georgia Tech’s participation in the Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching and Learning (CIRTL) Network, a group of institutions focused on preparing college faculty in STEM disciplines. Or, maybe you want to dive deeply into the scholarship of teaching and learning and earn the Tech to Teaching Certificate. Regardless of your goals and the level of your involvement, participating in future faculty programs through CTL will help you move closer to your goal of becoming a faculty member.
